What affects the battery price?
- Battery capacity (Wh / cells): higher capacity batteries cost more but last longer between charges.
- Genuine vs OEM vs copy: genuine and high-grade OEM batteries cost more than cheap copies, but they are safer and last 2 to 3 times longer.
- Internal vs removable: modern laptops with internal batteries need professional fitting, which we include free with every battery.
- Model rarity: batteries for older or uncommon models can cost more because of limited stock in Sri Lanka.
Why you should avoid cheap copy batteries
Low-grade copy batteries are common in Sri Lanka and often fail within months. Worse, poorly made cells can swell and damage your laptop’s casing, trackpad and motherboard, turning a battery problem into a far more expensive repair. Every battery we fit at Tech Drive Solution is tested, genuine or high-grade OEM, and covered by a warranty.
How do I know my laptop needs a new battery?
- Battery drains within 1 to 2 hours even with light use
- Laptop shuts down suddenly at 20 to 40 percent charge
- Battery percentage jumps up and down
- The battery or trackpad area is bulging (stop using it immediately)
- Windows or macOS shows a “service battery” or “replace battery” warning
